Comparison

Ransom
Last week I watched 2 openings of films. They are Ransom and Seven and .from the opening I can see these film are similar, in that they are crime films they use different styles

From the beginning this film brings people into the film straight away then there is an ambulance crossing a road of New York City with alarm sounding.This makes me feels like a bad thing is happening normally in the city and also feels like an ill omen for the film.The camera moves to a house with a very red title , this make me feel danger because red means blood or a warning , when the titles appear in the house people are having a party.Here is a turning point for atmosphere ,then a man says ok everyone let us watch the tape, the tape is about the house holder’s life it is a modern way of giving out background information.

Seven

However Seven also brings people into the film straight away .It is an old man dressing himself for work .The camera moves to the next place and we know this is a policeman because there is a man killed then another young policeman talks to the old policeman about making a team for this case but the old man does not want to work with him. Here we can see the old policeman is mysterious and cold then the camera is shooting the old man lying on his bed and reading a book and we can hear the noise of police car’s alarm.This makes people feel like the world is dangerous and is the best background music for a criminal film. After this the credit sequence has lots of pictures about criminals and some pictures with dead people.There is hand writing, some notes on a book with very slow music which sounds very scary then different pictures keeping showing and disappearing in a gradual way. This looks like the first case has not finished and another case is coming.

psycho

From beginning of psycho we can see a lot of line crossing in the screen from 4different direction with words and the words become upside down then go back again ，at this part I can feel the opening is quit psycho, also from the music I feel like quit strange the music was quit fast and scare, to compare psycho with other tow film the opening of psycho can make people feel mysterious because if you only watch the opening it is very hard to say what kind film it is so I think the opening is very good to work with the title psycho.
